Subject:Hiking in April?

Hi, my friend and I are from quebec and we're planning a trip to BC in April, to backpack. My question is, is that a good time? I heard that the weather is not as its best. And that the grizzly bears are coming out and are hungry too haha. But in April is it still cold in BC?

I got another question, what's the best place/city to go backpack over there?
